Employment & Volunteer Opportunities
If you love animals, have a strong work ethic and are not afraid of getting dirty or of working outdoors year round please consider becoming part of the Prancing Pony Farm Team. We are looking for part-time as well as seasonal employees for everything from basic farm hand type work to assistant animal caretakers. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and not be afraid of getting dirty, sweaty, hot or cold. Must be hard working, willing to learn and enjoy working around animals. Pay is dependent on your prior experience, animal related education, references and abilities. Priority is given to experienced applicants but we are willing to train highly motivated individuals with a super strong work ethic and strong passion and dedication to animals.
We are also open to teen and college age volunteers who need community service hours or would just like to learn more about working on a farm and/or with dogs and puppies. No experience required for volunteers but you must enjoy animals, be hardworking, dedicated to learning and able to follow instructions.

Entry Level Jobs
- Raking goat, horse and dog manure and loose hay from the barn, barnyard and pastures
- Cleaning the Puppy Parlor
- Cleaning the chicken coop
- Cleaning the dog grooming parlor
- General barnyard cleanup and odd jobs
- Unloading feed and dog food
Advanced Skills
- Feeding and watering goats, horses, Livestock Guardian Dogs, puppies, cats, chickens, ducks and geese
- Trimming goat hooves
- Grooming Livestock Guardian Dogs (bathing, brushing, blowdrying, trimming nails, cleaning ears)
- Grooming goats (body clipping in summer)
- Grooming horses - cleaning hooves, brushing, etc
- Milking dairy goats
- Feeding bottle baby goats (seasonal)
- Giving medications, vaccinations, deworming and other treatments to dogs, puppies and goats, under supervision
- Assisting in kidding season jobs - disbudding, castrating, microchipping kids
- Assisting in puppy care
- Assisting with training of Livestock Guardian Dogs and puppies, under supervision, with Positive Reinforcement methods only
