Kid Care
The best resources for goat health care that we know of are listed below. They have already done the work so no need for us to reinvent the wheel. If you have questions or concerns about goat health these two websites should have the answers you need! We will add to this database as we find more good sites and eventually we will document our own goat care tips and info as well, as time permits. If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact us and we’ll do our best to help!
Onion Creek Ranch
Yes, this is a meat goat site but they have the best database of articles on goat health care of anyone on the web and are very professional and knowledgable. They are always the first place we go when we have a question or concern about our goats' health.
Fiasco Farm
This is an older website so a few things might be outdated but overall she has GREAT info on all aspects of goat care, health & husbandry, cheesemaking, etc, with an emphasis on natural and herbal methods. She also sells herbal goat products. We haven't tried them but we hear they are great. She has an extensive list of toxic plants that we always check before we let our goats eat any strange plant.
*Just as an FYI her disbudding info is good but NOT accurate for disbudding Nigerians or Mini Nubians! Do not follow her directions or you WILL get scurs on your kids! (Ask us how we know!) Nigerians and Minis are THE hardest goats to disbud and must be done differently and sooner than standard dairy goats. See the resources in our Disbudding section for accurate disbudding info for Nigerian Dwarfs and Mini Nubians.
